Aug 30, 2004 :: He's Got Your number, So What?
Stop caring about success
Get rid of that preoccupation with success. Let go of your concern about winning or losing. See the shot. Know the stroke. Shoot the shot. You need to be free to perform. The balls don’t know whom you are playing. They remain the same game after game.
Welcome your rival. Be glad you have one. I give credit to Ken Foss for my intense practice motivation. I wanted to beat him so bad I practiced, practiced and still practiced. It was years later I told him how much he drove me on. He smiled and said, “Even you can learn how to play this game.” So I give him credit for my great game. He may not admit it, but I can handle him with ease now. Reduce your resistance to your rival by not responding to him. Be glad he is in the game.
Okay, lets have the report that you overcame your nemesis. What will we do differently this time?
We see the shot
We know the stroke
We shoot the shot.
